Why do I have to have a GI Evaluation?
In the case of international patients, gastric bypass in India is usually prompted by the desire – or need – to have procedures done on the cheap in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Goa. Patients, who have significant gastrointestinal symptoms such as upper abdominal pain, heartburn, belching sour fluid, etc., may have underlying problems such as a hiatus hernia, gastro esophageal reflux or peptic ulcer. For example, many patients have symptoms of reflux. Up to 15% of these patients may show early changes in the lining of the esophagus, which could predispose them to cancer of the esophagus. It is important to identify these changes so a suitable surveillance or treatment program can be planned.
Why do I have to have a Sleep Study?
The sleep study detects a tendency for abnormal stopping of breathing, usually associated with airway blockage when the muscles relax during sleep. This condition is associated with a high mortality rate. After surgery, you will be sedated and will receive narcotics for pain, which further depress normal breathing and reflexes. Airway blockage becomes more dangerous at this time. It is important to have a clear picture of what to expect and how to handle it. Visit this site for gastric bypass in India.

What are the routine tests before surgery?
Visit this page for my experience of gastric bypass in India. Certain basic tests are done prior to surgery: a Complete Blood Count (CBC), Urinalysis, and a Chemistry Panel, which gives a readout of about 20 blood chemistry values. Often a Glucose Tolerance Test is done to evaluate for diabetes, which is very common in overweight persons. All patients but the very young get a chest X-ray and an electrocardiogram. Women may have a vaginal ultrasound to look for abnormalities of the ovaries or uterus. Many surgeons ask for a gallbladder ultrasound to look for gallstones. Other tests, such as pulmonary function testing, echocardiogram, sleep studies, GI evaluation, cardiology evaluation, or psychiatric evaluation, may be requested when indicated.
What is the purpose of all these tests?
An accurate assessment of your health is needed before surgery. The best way to avoid complications is to never have them in the first place. It is important to know if your thyroid function is adequate since hypothyroidism can lead to sudden death post-operatively. If you are diabetic, special steps must be taken to control your blood sugar. Because surgery increases cardiac stress, your heart will be thoroughly evaluated. These tests will determine if you have liver malfunction, breathing difficulties, excess fluid in the tissues, abnormalities of the salts or minerals in body fluids, or abnormal blood fat levels. To make gastric bypass in India easier, medical tourism of India offer package deals, arranging for visas, transportation, and translators.

Gastric bypass in India is available at an affordable price through medical tourism. It’s normal and natural to fear surgery, anesthesia, or physical changes. But before you let these fears prevent you from having surgery, you may want to take a few moments to better understand the facts.
Fear and Risks
This is a common fear. After all, this surgery is major surgery performed while you’re under general anesthesia. Complications can occur. Keep in mind that you’ll have a team of healthcare professionals dedicated to your best possible care.
Keep in Mind
- Advances in bariatric surgical technique have significantly lowered the risk of operative mortality—especially when surgery is performed by an experienced laparoscopic surgeon.
- During the past decade, patient outcomes from general anesthesia have improved significantly, so that the mortality rate is down, from one in 10,000 to one in 250,000 patients. Each patient’s anesthesiology risk during bariatric surgery is based on the patient’s overall health.
Compare the benefits of surgery to the risks, and then talk to your doctor about your options. International patients are coming for gastric bypass in India in major industrialized cities like Mumbai, Goa, Kerela, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune.

Gastric bypass in India is possible because some medical tourism companies are arranging it at a low cost. Before becoming the most efficient and effective surgery against obesity, Gastric Bypass has come a long way. Ever since stomach surgeries begun to be performed, it was observed that patients who were subjected to an extraction of part of their stomachs due to gastrointestinal ulcers lost weight considerably after undergoing surgery. However, a few decades passed until 1966, when the first steps toward using this technique to reduce weight were taken. By using a technique that was relatively similar to the one used nowadays, reducing the capacity of the stomach.
Before that year every attempt had showed unacceptable risks and complications that rendered this surgery disposable. For gastric bypass in India, there is a vast pool of experienced surgeons with latest technologies. The main difference between those surgeries and the ones that are being performed from the 90’s onwards is that the former involved open surgery, through a large incision to directly see the treated area, whereas the latter are performed through laparoscopy techniques. These techniques consist in using special tools that are inserted through very small incisions, so that the treated area is seen through a closed circuit monitor. Incisions of less than 1 cm are made nowadays reducing surgery trauma and therefore making postoperative pain more tolerable.
These two important advances, as well as cutting down postoperative risks and complications, result in more and more people wanting to undergo a gastric bypass, since it provides better results than any other treatment to lose weight. Technology and advances on postoperative care make today’s technique a more secure and efficient way to lose and control weight. Indian hospitals use state-of-the-art techniques and employ experienced professionals with outstanding backgrounds that allow us to make history in this kind of procedures. Most importantly, with every surgery they make history in the lives of the people who trust to start a new life and undoubtedly a much better life!
